~Learning Journey To Botanic Gardens With CEM Group 5 ~
Our learning journey to Botanic Gardens started out with all of us meeting outside Botanic Gardens Mrt Station. We (KahKian, Eileen and Kenneth) met each other at 9.30 am in the morning to start our learning journey !!! We were all excited !!! Sadly, two of our members could not join us as they have their personal matters to attend to. As we walked into Botanic Garden, we noticed that the structure outside Botanic were all made of wood. We aren't sure why it was built like that however we were making wild guesses... "maybe cause they want to promote Eco-friendliness ? Each of us made many guess.
Another thing we noticed is that many families and students come to Botanic Gardens to exercise. You can tell by the pictures placed below.
We made our way into Botanic Gardens Though This Giant Gate !!!
As we entered, we noticed this large sign pointing us to various attractions in Botanic Gardens. However, one thing was for sure, this sign was not accurate. We wanted to have our breakfast before starting our learning journey in Botanic Garden. We made our way to the nearest food center. However, after what seems like an eternity, we decided to look at the map through Google Maps, only to discover that we weren't even close to the food center and the estimation given on the board wasn't accurate.
We notice that there were signs on the lamp post showing that Botanic Gardens promotes Eco-friendliness of the environment. It was good to see this as this shows that there are people out there that share the same view as us CEM students, being environmentalist.
As we walked into that Garden, we notice small black boxes along the path way. We did not know that they were for so we took pictures of it.
Walking further into Botanic Gardens, we can see various groups of people doing various stuff.
Some were doing yoga
Some were warming up for their morning exercies
Along the way, we notice something interesting. As we have visited SBR (Siloso Beach Resort), we noticed that Botanic Gardens also protect the environment by not cutting down trees. They built a structure to protect the tress as seen in the picture below.
Groups of people having bonding and games.
We also noticed photographers taking photo of wild life around Botanic Gardens. We can tell why they were here talking photos as we ourselves took many photos of the wild life there. Then we did crack a joke...." Zoo got so many of this animals why when we go Zoo don't want take then come here see then must take so many pictures...." HAHAHA !!!
People having picnic at Botanic Gardens
Wild life seen at Botanic Gardens...
One other thing we noticed was that the wild life was already accustom to humans around them. This picture below was taken use 2 feet away from this group of pigeons.Normally they would fly away as soon you try to approach them. However this group didn't and we were all amazed !!!
Beautiful pond !!!
We noticed piping system leading to the pond. We aren't sure what's the piping for and were interested to find out !!!
Swan guarding it's nest !!!
We also noticed that Botanic Gardens is very clean... not many leaves on the floor. This is most probably because of the efficient workers at Botanic Garden.
Its Not Everyday We Get To See A Banana Flower!!! Lucky Us Hahaha !!!
Photos Of Our Group !!!
We noticed that Botanic Gardens uses LED bulbs !!! This is good as LED bulbs helps save electricity !!!
We noticed such shelters along Botanic Gardens and we were thinking that they could implement Solar Panels on the roof was the angle is good and also facing the sun !!!
We also noticed that Botanic Garden uses the weeds of the pond as fertilizer for the plants. The picture below shows a sign saying that the foul smell is caused by the natural fertilizer.
We also noticed that some of the fruits from the tree were eaten. This could be why Botanic Gardens has a wide array of animals...
We also noticed such rubbish bins in Botanic Gardens...We then asked ourselves, if Botanic Gardens supports Eco-friendliness, why not use recycling bins instead?
After an awesome day at Botanic Gardens, We rewarded ourselves to an awesome meal of MacDonald. We had some bonding time then and are set for the next challenge given to our group !!!

Today, our team went to Common Wealth SMRT deport to do our EEPS
field trip report. We met up at Jurong East MRT at 0800 hours and headed
for our destination. We were lucky enough to witness an accident which
happened outside JEM ( Jurong East Mall ).We took bus number 99 to our
destination and alighted 6 stops later.
We walk about 500m into the forest to the SMRT deport. The first thing
we saw was the power station which houses the grid system for the
deport. On the left of it, was the main SMRT deport. We wanted to enter
the area however, we weren't able to do so. We still manage to get some
off-grid solar panels which power the street lightning of the area.
